I recently conducted a number of Ideas Blitz sessions with a sales team in the pharmaceutical industry.
As with all my work I encouraged the group to work on some real problems.
This makes the learning more relevant as participants learn a new tool, skill and obtain some genuine results they can use straight away.
In this case we worked on showing the team how to call and run an Ideas Blitz (i.e. a short, problem-solving or idea-generation session involving 1-6 people in 20 minutes or less).
After the session I asked the sales director for some feedback.
The key messages and learning from the team were as follows (participant’s words not mine):
- No ideas are bad ideas!
- Felt I was using more impulse thoughts, so generated more ideas
- Rapid fire thoughts helps you to remove your filters which means the group could be more creative.
- Having the 2:9 approach, it was easier to make myself do it.
- Change your lens – you do need to push yourself to think radically so this helps!
- Loved the pace and energy it created
- People felt engaged in the process
This is always the nice part of helping people to learn a new skill and tool.
If you would like to learn more about Ideas Blitz and how it can unlock the energy and creativity of any group or team then send me an email or call.
